20 years later.

Arlington had its annual street fair last weekend. In my career this event has become a time stamp, allowing me to compare my professional growth from year to year.

The very first Arlington street fair I participated in was in 2003- yes, 21 years ago. I called myself FauxyFurr, I had a white 10x10 EZ up tent, vintage handbags covered in fake fur, business cards, a vinyl sign, a website and a manual credit card reader.

I made less than $100 all weekend, not even enough to cover the entry fee. I vividly remember feeling defeated and disdain for the sleepy town of Arlington. This place was too small for my radical sense of style and behind the times, I thought to myself.

I never imagined I would eventually call Arlington my home, watch my career take flight here and find my tribe here.

Years later, hard work mixed with sheer luck put me in this beautiful town full of beautiful soul, a healing river, a convenient centennial trail, community members who put on great events, with a mayor who knows his people.

It turns out I do belong right here at 105 N. Olympic Ave Arlington, Washington, in the mix, with all of you. ♥️
