Before The Trailer It Was A Pop Up Tent

Circa 2015.

This is was the first time FauxyFurr Vintage went on the road. It was because my new friend Jill invited FFV last minute to be a vendor at the Winthrop Rhythm & Blues Festival held in July.

I hadn't been a vendor in 10 years and really lacked a vision for a set up (you don't say). I did have my pop up tent from 2001, which is a miracle, based on how many times I moved during those 14 years.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Back then, I threw all the boots for sale at the Country Rose into black garbage bags and loaded them into the van (cringe). Once at the event we dumped the boots out into piles on the grass and people shopped the piles until we finished building the wooden displays. (cringing again!) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We sold boots out of the white tent and made base camp out of the blue tent. I'm pretty sure we slept in fold-out lawn chairs that weekend and ate sandwiches from coolers.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I told my best friend at the time that I had a girl crush on Jill. She agreed Jill was cool. We danced in a big crowd to live blues music at night, during the hottest part of the day we swam in the river to cool off, and over 3 days we sold almost $2000 in boots. I was hooked. Festival life was going to be my life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Tearing down was the worst part of vending. It's dusty in Winthrop. All those boots that didn't sell went back into garbage bags covered in dust, we deconstructed the shelving, broke down camp, and loaded up the van. Once I got back to Arlington I had to unload all those boots into the Country Rose and clean & polish every pair before they were presentable again.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This painful process of setup and breakdown is what lead to the trailer being purchased within 6 months and built within a year. We debuted the trailer at this same event in 2016.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
