That PNW Bridge Photo Shoot
CAUTION: Restricted area
In 2015 I met Bess Byer through mutual friends. Bess had recently moved to Washington state to work for the grow: Western Culture. Bess & I had an instant connection. Right away we began planning a photo shoot centered around de-stigmatizing Women & Weed. Bess & I are big dreamers and our photoshoot plan developed quickly. The most important part of a photoshoot is your backdrop! Which is why we started with Vance Creek Bridge. An epic old railroad bridge that spans several hundred feet over a drop off. The
I asked for everyones measurements and I curated clothing to fit their bodies and our aesthetic. I filled the White Knight (my creeper van) with bags full of boots, coats, fringe, capes, hats and jewelry. I headed to Bess’s house Friday and crashed on the couch so I could prepare for the styling session in the Am. Our girls arrived the next morning and we put together three looks for each one. We packed up two cars, a cooler with breakfast foods, whiskey, pre-sorted outfits, hand mirror, lint roller, clothes pins for fitting, blankets, camera gear, pre-rolled joined and we piled in.
As the stylist it’s my job to cater to the “talent” and keep them looking fresh and photo ready.
Eventually we did make it to that PNW bridge and what a magnificently dangerous view it was. We light up those pre rolled joints one at a time and Bess captured the most incredible shots of each fresh looking girl (thanks to me). The sun was just shining so, the air was warm, the styling was on point, the weed worked. Total Bliss. This shoot is one I will never forget.
